Investing with like minded individuals
The market has changed dramatically over the last few years and recent research from NESTA reports that there has never been a better time to invest into private equity transactions. The reasons for this are two-fold. First of all, in the current economic environment, taxes must rise, and it makes sense to invest in government blessed tax-sheltered products. Secondly, company valuations have fallen over the last 18 months and even excellent well-managed companies are still finding it difficult to raise finance for expansion, a problem which was much less common prior to the global downturn. There are significant long term benefits in investing now.
Private Investors have historically been the source of finance for private equity investment into high risk private companies, start-ups, hi-technology, University spin-outs etc. However with the current shortage of capital for small to medium sized enterprises (SME’s) from Banks, AIM, PLUS etc, private investors can make investments into development capital and management buy-out type situations.
